Happy new year hotties! If you haven’t noticed, we’ve bid farewell to 2023. Before I start chatting shit about anything else, let me just reflect on a year of Rat Depot. I published the very first article on January 11th 2023, explaining how I had neglected yet another creative project and was launching a new one I could hopefully sustain…
Since then,
148 of you in 11 different countries and 9 US states have read or listened to 31 letters that ran to a total of 40,206 words. Together, as one big rat mass you have opened my letters 3655 times!

In addition, about 80 of you have attended our Rat Depot screenings since we kicked events off in August 2023, winning prizes and having goofs, gaffs, giggles and laughs.
Thank you <3
This year I’d like to set some goals for the depot, if you’ll permit me:
Actually commit to podcast/audio features, with more guests
Put on more events and branch out from film screenings to exhibitions and workshops
Publish our first zine, which is still in the works
Publish more letters and feature more guest writers
If you’re also in the mood to kick off 2024 with a bang, or a whoop or a wallop, why not get involved? Come and record a podcast with me or with your friends? Help us put on events if you live locally to us (Leeds, England) or write and get your work published here? Contribute to future zines or help design them and make money in the process? The door is always open. You can reach me via email at paulieratdepot@gmail.com or on instagram here.
Here’s to another year packed with words, images, sounds and uh, smells? Maybe. Patent pending. I will be back on Sunday with a regular letter on something completely different.
Until then,
SIKE!
ANNOUNCEMENT TIME FUCKO!
On the evening of February 10th, Rat Depot will be back at the HEART centre in Headingley, Leeds for a special Valentines showing of
WONG KAR-WAI’S FALLEN ANGELS (1995). An absolute gem that we all love, equal parts crime noir, drama, comedy, romance? If Chungking Express is Hong Kong in the day, Fallen Angels is its nocturnal twin. Late nights in neon lit alleys picking which Doritos to eat as you stay awake doing nothing, sex dolls and ice cream vans and gun fights and motorbikes. It’s sexy, mischievous and quite lonely. It’s a really great film. I’ll be sharing the link to tickets early next week so if you’re in the area, don’t miss out…
Ok I’ll actually see you on Sunday now. Thank you again for supporting Rat Depot, hopefully it’s been fun and you’ve found new things to enjoy. Happy new year rats.
Love,
Paulie xx
